The Maliebaan is one of the most 'posh' streets in Utrecht. It was the same during World War Two, and the German Army had their
pick of estates along this street. All major branches had their HQ's at the Maliebaan: The Luftwaffe, the SS, the regular German
Army, and the Dutch NSB
(Nationaal Socialistische Beweging), who collaborated with the Germans. A lot of German VIP's visited
the Maliebaan, even Heinrich Himmler, the Reichsfuhrer. After the War other VIP's, like Dutch Prince Bernhard, visited the street.
